Structural Integration and Anatomy Trains are both part of my approach.

Structural Integration (SI) Massage

Structural Integration (SI) Massage, developed by Dr. Ida Rolf, is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the fascia and aims to restore balance and alignment to the body. The practice involves a series of sessions in which the practitioner applies deep, focused pressure to specific areas of the body to release tension in the fascia and help re-align the body’s structure. SI is often referred to as “Rolfing,” after Dr. Rolf, and is designed to improve posture, reduce pain, and enhance movement efficiency by addressing the body’s myofascial system.

In both Anatomy Trains and Structural Integration, the body is seen as a whole system where imbalances or restrictions in one area can affect overall function. Structural Integration uses the principles of Anatomy Trains to help guide treatment, using techniques that work on the fascia to free up restricted areas and improve overall body alignment. The goal is to create a more balanced and functional body, supporting natural movement patterns and reducing strain or pain.

Mobility Massage

Mobility Massage is a therapeutic technique designed to enhance joint mobility, improve muscle flexibility, and promote overall functional movement. It combines elements of various massage techniques, such as deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching, with a primary focus on addressing tight or restricted areas in the muscles and fascia that can limit movement.

Mobility Massage is what I would prefer the website be geared toward merging my approaches regarding Anatomy Trains and Structural integration w/ perceptive education and awareness training

Key Points of Mobility Massage:

  1. Improved Range of Motion: The primary goal of mobility massage is to increase the range of motion in joints and muscles, making movement easier and less restricted.
  2. Targeted Muscle Release: It targets tight, overworked, or shortened muscles that may be contributing to stiffness, pain, or poor posture. Techniques like deep pressure and myofascial release are used to release muscle knots and tension.
  3. Fascia Focus: The fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles) is often a key focus. Adhesions or tightness in the fascia can limit mobility, so techniques are used to loosen this tissue and restore flexibility.
  4. Pain Reduction: By addressing muscle tension and fascia restrictions, mobility massage can reduce discomfort and chronic pain, particularly in areas such as the lower back, hips, and shoulders.
  5. Increased Circulation: The techniques used in mobility massage improve blood flow to the muscles, which can accelerate recovery, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
  6. Functional Movement: Mobility massage is designed not only for relaxation but to support and enhance functional movement. It can be helpful for athletes, people recovering from injury, or anyone with limited mobility due to lifestyle or work-related factors.
  7. Personalized Approach: Depending on an individual’s needs, the massage may focus on specific problem areas, such as the hips, shoulders, or knees, or it may involve a full-body approach to overall mobility.

Techniques Used in Mobility Massage:

  • Deep Tissue Massage: Focuses on releasing deeper muscle tension and breaking up adhesions.
  • Myofascial Release: Targets fascia to relieve restrictions and improve muscle movement.
  • Stretching: Active or passive stretching is incorporated to lengthen muscles and improve flexibility.
  • Trigger Point Therapy: Focuses on relieving muscle knots (trigger points) that cause pain and limit mobility.

Overall, mobility massage is an effective tool for improving flexibility, mobility, and overall movement efficiency, making it especially useful for those with an active lifestyle or those dealing with Chronic Pain or injury.

Special Needs Sensory Adaptive Massage & Autism

For the last year I have been working with a Gig Harbor special needs patient, 'Patient B', who has Down syndrome and Autism. When I first met him, he was very hunched, anxious, and stiff.  My reason for inquiring if I could help him was due to a previous patient I had, 'Patient A', who had Autism and Angel Man syndrome.  I recognized the behaviour tendencies and mannerisms.

This is what indicated to me, along with my own personal experiences with energetics (anxiousness, 'tics', ungrounded electricity), that I could offer help.

As of recently, Patient B has ceased some of the original disturbed mannerisms, and his posture has drastically improved, along with his strength.  My theory is based upon my understanding of the body’s energy systems, fascial networks, cognitive functions, and most importantly, my Faith.

If you have a special needs person, including physical disability, please schedule a session with me, and let’s discover if I can benefit the person.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

I understand that conflicting and unforeseen circumstances happen, affecting our lives. And my desire to be effective and fair to all clients is reflected in the following policies honored:
24 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment.
This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice you will be charged ½ the rate for your missed appointment.

No-shows

Any person who either forgets or chooses to miss their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, we will determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you are responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly.
